Putin Likely To Sweep Upcoming Russian Presidential Elections
This Sunday, Russians will go to the polls to cast their ballots for their next president, though there’s little mystery as to who will come out victorious. Vladimir Putin will be elected to his fourth term as president. As Putin’s most vocal opponent, Alexei Navalny, has been banned from running. Seven opponents have been allowed to challenge Putin for the presidency, including “Russia’s Paris Hilton” Ksenia Sobchak, a 36-year-old television star whose father is a former mentee of Putin. If the outcome is already certain, why does the Putin regime still go through the charade of democratic elections? To discuss, we’re joined by Anna Nemtsova, the Moscow correspondent for The Daily Beast.
