For this week’s Weekend Passport, Nari Safavi is joined by Isaac Gomez, the dramaturg of the Victory Gardens Theater which is producing the midwest premiere of The House That Will Not Stand, a historical drama about free women of color during the Louisiana Purchase.
He’s also joined by the play’s star, Lizan Mitchell, who plays Beatrice, the Black Creole widow of a wealthy French merchant who must deal with the transition from French colonization to American colonization.
