Iranians went to the polls last Friday to select representatives for the country’s parliament and cleric-controlled “Assembly of Experts.” The lead up to the vote was filled with skepticism about the possibility of a fair process, but record numbers of Iranians voted and many observers saw the results as a positive step towards reform. Moderates and allies of President Hassan Rouhani made strong gains. We’ll recap the elections with Reza Marashi, director of research for the National Iranian American Council. He’ll tell us what he thinks the results will lead to even more reforms in Iran.
