Regulating India's generic drug industry

India is one of the biggest suppliers of drugs to the United States, particularly when it comes to cheaper, generic brand products. But recent years have seen the Indian pharmaceutical industry come under fire for a lack of quality control. Congressional lawmakers have historically put pressure on the FDA to increase regulation on Indian generic drugs, but some say that these efforts are more about protecting American pharmaceutical companies against low pricing.
