When a tsunami hit Japan’s Fukushima power plant in March 2011, it caused the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl. The cleanup is expected to take 30 years, 150 billion dollars and tens of thousands of workers. Reuters interviewed 80 workers involved with the cleanup and found that ” already low wages are shrinking, working conditions are dangerous, and those who complain are fired.” Reuters correspondent Mari Saito joins us from Japan to tell us what she learned about the working conditions at the plant.
