Senator Dianne Feinstein made waves last April when she took on the CIA from the Senate floor over its surveillance of Congress, specifically her Senate Intelligence Committee. The Committe was tasked with investigating CIA interrogation practices. Since the report’s release last week, she’s rebuffed attacks from citizens, Congress, and the media. Senator Feinstein even engaged in a Twitter war with the CIA over its objections to the report. We’ll discuss the report and its ramifications with Alfred McCoy, professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He’s researched and written on U.S. torture policies for decades. McCoy’s latest book is Torture and Impunity: The U.S. Doctrine of Coercive Interrogation.
