The Citizen Lab is a research watchdog group based in Toronto that investigates and tracks how governments use the internet and cyberspace to abuse human rights and restrict free speech. The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation recently named The Citizen lab as one of seven groups that received the “MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions.” We’ll talk with Ron Deibert, director of The Citizen Lab. He calls his work “Hacktivism.”
