Last month, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin was part of a congressional delegation that visited Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh. He and U.S. House Rep. Jan Schakowsky, of the northern Chicago suburbs, are pushing for targeted sanctions against the Burma’s government for ethnically cleansing the country’s Rohingya minority.

Senator Durbin is also outspoken on issues like the nuclear conflicts with Iran and North Korea. Those, and other foreign policy issues, have reached the crisis stage under the Trump administration. And over the weekend, the Honduran election commission announced that the incumbent president had won a controversial and contested second term.

What should the United States’ role be in solving these crises? Worldview’s Steve Bynum sat down with Durbin to talk about the Rohingya crisis, the Russia investigation, the potential for war with North Korea, and the contested elections in Honduras.
