S.R. Hiremath left Chicago in 1979 and returned to his native India where he then founded the NGO, Samaj Parivartana Samudaya (Community for Social Change). The goal: create a “free, democratic, secular, egalitarian, non-violent, non exploitative and just society”.

Hiremath has been at the center of numerous campaigns and legal actions against government, big polluters and other corrupt actors. He joins us for an update on his numerous crusades on behalf of the powerless in his country.

Hiremath will also tell us why he thinks poor, working and middle-class Americans share a similar plight with those in India.
