Syrian Loubna Mrie first covered the Syrian uprising as a photojournalist for Reuters . She has written widely for Foreign Policy, Vice, Quartz , and Al Jazeera. Loubna comes from the same Alawite ethnic group as does Syria’s President, Bashar al-Assad. Her father supported one of al-Assad’s militias when she decided to join the Syrian rebellion. We’ll hear Loubna’s personal story about how revolution tore her family apart. She’ll also reflect upon what went wrong in Syria and what the future may hold for the years-long conflict.
