Syrian peace talks, “Son of Saul,” and a prison beauty pageant on stage
Peace talks, meant to bring an end to the war in Syria, are scheduled to begin today in Geneva, but many opposition groups say they would not attend unless certain demands were met. Some opposition leaders said they would only participate in talks if there was an end to the sieges and bombardment of rebel-held areas (including an end to the Russian airstrikes). The talks are expected to last several months. They come at time of a deepening humanitarian crisis within Syria. (AP Photo/Hassan Ammar)
