Palestinians and Israelis don’t have many opportunities for dialog, much less friendship. But the new documentary “The Promised Band” follows one quest for just that.

In the film, Israelis and Palestinians form a band as a cover story to establish friendships. The unlikely musicians have to take chances, cross borders, and find safe spaces. The women manage to connect on their sameness and build trust. They realize they have nothing to fear from each other … and make some pretty bad music. We talk to the director and producer of “The Promise Band.”
