The Spanish monarchy combats scandal and growing dissapproval
This week the Spanish royal family unveiled their individual salaries and expenses. This is the first time this information has ever been made public. The royal family has come under increasing scrutiny ever since Princess Cristina was charged with tax fraud. According to a recent poll by El Mundo, just 49 percent of Spaniards now support the monarchy, and many would like to see it abolished altogether as the country grapples with high unemployment and other economic issues. We’ll take a look at the changing roll of the Spanish monarchy with Jose Marco Paredes, a freelance journalist based in Valencia, Spain.
