Broadening Our View Of The Syrian Civil War

In 2011, protesters took to the streets of Syria to demand the ouster of their president, Bashar al-Assad. Those protests began a civil war that is still ongoing.

We talk with Robin Yassin-Kassab and Leila Al-Shami, the authors of the book Burning Country: Syrians in Revolution and War. The book examines the root causes of the war and the current situation in Syria via first-hand testimonies with opposition fighters, refugees and human rights activists.
