The transformation of Eastern European cinema

The San Sebastián FIlm Festival, the largest and most important film festival in Spain, which opens today, is screening a 50 film retrospective titled "Eastern Promises." The retrospective surveys the films made in the wake of the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe. This weekend, The 6th Annual Romanian Cultural Marathon, a cultural festival organized by the Romanian Cultural Exchange, is showing at Facets Multimedia. Film contributor Milos Stehlik joins us to give us an overview of the film scene in Eastern Europe. (photo: Old Communist Hag film image, courtesy of Facets Chicago.)
