You won’t see North Korea giving news conferences often, but last week, North Korea declared at a U.N. press gathering that the United States is at fault for bad relations between the two Koreas and not to expect Pyongyang to give up its nuclear arsenal. Next month marks 60 years since the official end of open hostilities in the Korean War. Bruce Cumings is department chair and professor of history at the University of Chicago and author of ‘The Korean War: A History.’ He’ll talk about the Armistice and what the West can do to lower current tensions. Cumings will also talk about Korea’s post-war history Tuesday at a luncheon event hosted by the Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy. (Photo: AP Images)
