Every year the Third Coast / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition looks for the best audio stories from around the globe. This year, for the first time, they opened up the documentary category to foreign language entries.
The organization received entries from 17 countries, on everything from Cuban punk rockers to a Danish true crime story. On Wednesday, they announced the winners.
Sarah Geis, artistic director for Third Coast, stops by to tell us about some of the foreign entries and what they hope audiences will gain. Put on your headphones, raise a glass, and listen to them all here.
Please note: The subject matter of some of these documentaries may be disturbing to some listeners.
