Trump Doubles Down on Wall Demands As Shutdown Continues
As a U.S. Federal government shutdown over border wall funding approaches three weeks, Tuesday night, President Donald Trump gave his first Oval Office speech. Amidst concerns he would declare a state-of-emergency to secure funding to build his much-touted wall along the U.S. Mexico border, Trump instead read scripted remarks echoing his statements from political rallies. Numerous fact-checkers have challenged most of the President’s assertions of an immigration crisis at the border.
