Tunisian opposition leader Mohamed Brahmi was shot dead outside his home in Tunis on Thursday. Brahmi was the founder of the secularist Popular Current party. He’s the second opposition leader to be killed in Tunisia within the last six months. Divisions between Islamists and their secular opponents have deepened since the popular uprising against President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali in 2011. Ikbel Achour, a senior research scientist at the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois, is currently in Tunisia working on an economic development project. She tells us how the Tunisian public is reacting to the news of the assassination. (Photo: AP Images).
