Earlier this week the U.S. military said that it would no longer release daily updates on the hunger strike at Guantanamo prison because the number of protesters had dwindled to just a small group. The strike has been under way for six months and at its peak some 106 inmates had joined the strike out of a then total prison population of 166. The hunger strikes have been force-fed and several inmates remain on a force-feeding regime. Attorney Marc Falkoff is assistant professor of law at Northern Illinois University. He has represented numerous Guantanamo prisoners and is also the editor of the book Poems from Guantanamo: The Detainees Speak. He updates us on the situation at Guantanamo.
