It’s been three years since hundreds of protestors where shot in the streets in Andijan. US protests over the event resulted in the end of US military bases in Uzbekistan.

Now the US and Europe are beginning to patch thing up with the authoritarian regime of Islam Karimov. Russell Zanca is co-editor of Every day Life in Central Asia. He’s an anthropologist from Northeastern University.
