Venezuelans go to the polls on Sunday to vote in parliamentary elections. Polling data and news reports indicate that the political party of late President Hugo Chavez, currently led by his successor, Nicolas Maduro, could lose control of the country’s National Assembly. We’ll talk about the upcoming vote and its potential ramifications with David Smilde, senior fellow at the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA) and curator its Venezuelan Politics and Human Rights blog. He’s also professor of Sociology at Tulane University and co-authored the edited volume, 'Venezuela's Bolivarian Democracy: Participation, Politics and Culture under Chávez'.
