Casualties continue to rise in clashes between protesters and police in Ukraine despite a brief truce yesterday as President Viktor Yanukovich met with opposition leaders in Kiev. Last night, Chicago’s Ukrainian community, which dates back the late nineteenth century and now numbers at least 50,000, held a vigil at the Watertower Plaza and the Ukrainian Consulate in support of the protesters.
