Psychologist Mary Pipher made waves in late ‘90s with her bestselling book, Reviving Ophelia, in which she examined challenges facing adolescent girls and the cultural and societal factors that contribute to them. Her latest book addresses another tough subject: how to take on the gargantuan task of saving the environment without becoming overwhelmed. Pipher joins us from her home state of Nebraska to talk about what prompted her to write ‘The Green Boat: Reviving Ourselves in our Capsized Culture,’ and what she learned along the way.
