Around 150 artists will come together to perform a composition that showcases 100 years of the Englewood’s musical history. The Quantum Englewood concert, led by Ernest Dawkins and Rahul Sharma, will include Funkadesi, Ben LaMar Gay, Maggie Brown, the Live the Spirit Jazz Ensemble, the Soul Children Gospel Choir, the Bucket Boys and Fernando Jones’s Blues Kids. Presented by the Old Town School’s Music Moves Chicago program and Dawkins’s Live the Spirit Residency, a $50,000 grant from the Joyce Foundation, the composition was first rehearsed separately by community groups. Joining us to discuss the concert are Rashida Phillips, the Deputy Director of Old Town School of Folk Music, and founder of Funkadesi, Rahul Sharma. Our global citizen, Nari Safavi, will also join us to give you a couple events to help you plan your international weekend!
