Weekend Passport: 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas
For this week’s Weekend Passport, our global citizen Narimon Safavi will take us 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas, to discover the world and monsters of Captain Nemo. Adapted by David Kersnar and Steve Pickering, from the 1870 novel by Jules Verne, 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas follows a U.S. expedition of Professor Annorax and Conseil - played by women - to seek out the narwhal that is sinking all their warships. Joining us to discuss the creative direction and themes of the play is actor Kareem Bandealy, who plays the role of Captain Nemo. Bandealy has previously appeared at Lookingglass in Blood Wedding, Moby Dick, The Little Prince, Big Lake Big City, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, The Last Act of Lilka Kadison, and Peter Pan (A Play). 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas will be playing through August 26, 2018 at the a Lookingglass Theater, 821 N. Michigan Avenue. Nari Safavi, will also give you a couple events to help you plan your international weekend!
