“From its earliest days, Chicago has been the North American gateway for trade and transportation,” writes Patrizia Accera, executive director of the International Voices Project. These days, Accera aims to ensure Chicago can be a different sort of crossroads: one for international dialogue. The International Voices Project supports the work of playwrights from around the world and brings their plays to Chicago stages. For this edition of Weekend Passport, our global citizen, Nari Safavi, sits down with Accera to learn about the process of translating and producing plays from five continents. Whether you’re looking for stories from South Korea or Serbia, they’ll tell you how to have an international good time in Chicago this month.
