On this week’s Weekend Passport, global citizen Nari Safavi recommends the “global tapas” of music styles at the Marjorie Kovler Center’s annual Musicians Against Torture benefit concert.

The center, which is part of the Heartland Alliance, is a Chicago organization advocating for greater rights for torture victims. This year’s concert will take place at Pianoforte Foundation on Friday August 11. We speak with violinist Sara Su Jones, who will be headlining the concert. She performs live in the Jim and Kay Mabie Performance Studio with her partner, WFMT’s Dennis Moore, on piano. Also joining us is Sally Berkhia, associate director of development for the Kovler Center, with some details about the programs the concert goes to aid.
