Weekend Passport: Muslim-American Comedy Play 'Yasmina’s Necklace'

Chicago-based playwright Rohina Malik’s new play, Yasmina’s Necklace, unveils a unique American love story as two disparate Muslim families come together through a romantic relationship. Malik says she is often disturbed by the way Muslims are portrayed in TV and film. She wants to “invit[e] the audiences to their living room.”

Malik and director Ann Filmer join us for a discussion on identity and the Muslim-American image in media. Global citizen Nari Safavi will also clue us into more global events to check out this weekend.
