The magical realism of West African folktales meets the pressures of modern Chicago. It’s at that intersection that the new play Fast Food Chain finds its home. Premiering at Adventure Stage Chicago, Fast Food Chain tells the story of a brother and sister coping with food insecurity in Chicago in 2019. The two discover a garden where they least expect it, and their tale unfolds. For this edition of Weekend Passport, our global citizen, Nari Safavi, digs in to find out more about the play and help listeners discover the world without ever leaving Chicago. Nari speaks with Daryl Brooks and Tom Arvetis, the director and producing artistic director, respectively, of Fast Food Chain.
