Dumplings from around the world can be savored in Chicago this weekend. The World Music Festival meets World Dumpling Fest will be held Sept. 23 at Navy Pier. The event celebrates diverse cultures throughout Chicagoland with performances, art and dumplings. There will be lots of music too, as the dumpling festival coincides with World Music Fest. Highlights include Jupiter and Okwess, led by Jupiter Bokondji, playing the Congolese rhythms, funk and rock; Delgres from Guadeloupe, combining their native Caribbean rhythms with the delta blues for a deep roots sound of their own; and the Zhou Family Band from China, playing traditional wind and percussion music. The festival will feature dumplings of the world from 10 neighborhood ethnic restaurants. Our global citizen, Nari Safavi, will also join us to give you a couple events to help you plan your international weekend!
