Forces loyal to Bashar al Assad are assembling for an assault on Idlib, the last opposition stronghold in Syria. Idlib is home to the remaining active militant groups as well as civilians displaced from other places in Syria.Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkey’s foreign minister, says a military solution would be disastrous. “Where will some 3.5million people go,” asked Cavusoglu. Russia is helping deter interference with its largest naval deployment in the Mediterranean since the start of the war. The US has warned against the use of chemical weapons.
