What's really happening inside the Vatican?

When he was elected, Pope Francis became the first non European pope in 1,300 years. That was not the only change to hit the Vatican. Since he took over Francis has continued to make headlines for doing things differently from his predecessors and for breaking with certain traditions. In a recent interview he stirred up controversy among more traditional Catholics when he said Catholics “shouldn’t be obsessed” with imposing doctrines, including on gay marriage and abortion. John Thavis, author of The Vatican Diaries, has covered the Vatican for more than 30 years, many as Rome bureau chief for the Catholic News Service. He’ll give us an insider perspective on the Pope’s reform agenda. (Photo: A.P./L'Osservatore Romano)
