Who Is The Man Known As The ‘Dutch Trump’?

The Netherlands will hold elections on March 15th and one of the parties likely to win a large number of seats in Parliament is the Freedom Party. It’s headed up by Geert Wilders, who is often called the “Dutch Trump.”

Not only does he sport the same hair style and hair color as Trump, he is also fond of creating controversy and is a frequent Twitter user. Wilders is best known for his anti-Muslim platform and deep suspicion of Islam. We take a look at how Wilders rose to power and what’s driving his popularity with journalist Naomi O’Leary. Her recent Politico profile of Wilders is called “The Man Who Invented Trumpism.”
