UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon’s term as UN Secretary General will end in December 2016. He’s said he will not serve another term. The process for selecting the secretary general has generally been done behind closed doors. There are lots of calls to reform the way the position gets filled. Along with calls to change the process, there’s been mounting pressure to make the next head of the UN a woman. Many UN observers say it’s unclear whether a woman has ever even seriously been considered for the job. Jean Krasno is chair of the “ Campaign to Elect a Woman UN Secretary-General.” She’s been a vocal advocate of having a woman lead the UN.
