In his meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi this week, President Trump said the Egyptian leader is doing a “fantastic job” fighting terrorism.

But the Committee to Protect Journalists says the Egyptian government’s fight against terrorism has included jailing dozens of journalists.

For decades, the U.S. has been the world’s leading advocate for press freedom; but groups like CPJ and Reporters Without Borders worry that U.S. role will deteriorate under the Trump Administration.

We take a closer look at press freedom in Egypt, as well as in China, with Courtney Radsch, advocacy director with the Committee to Protect Journalists.
