The 2018 World Cup is underway in Russia! Close to half of the world’s population is expected to watch the international soccer tournament, and Worldview is among them. Worldview ’s global citizen friend Nari Safavi ( Weekend Passport ) is also a soccer nut. He’s excited about the World Cup, but especially about today’s match between Iran and Spain. Nari was born in Iran, and lived off-and-on in Spain. Iran is one of the most successful soccer teams in Asia, and Spain’s prowess is legendary. To balance out Nari’s Iran fandom, we’ll also talk with Spain fan Amaia Gabantxo is a writer, flamenco singer, and literary translator specializing in Basque literature.
