World powers consult ahead of Iran nuclear talks

Senior envoys from the U.S., Britain, Germany, France, Russia and China met in Brussels this week to plot a way forward ahead of talks later this month with Iran over its nuclear program. Officials say “some progress may have been made” since February talks with Tehran. But many of the Gulf States and Israel are skeptical of any negotiated deal with Iran. We’ll talk with Gareth Porter, a historian, journalist and author of the book Manufactured Crisis: The Untold Story of the Iran Nuclear Scare. Gareth says he wrote the book to “argue the case made by successive U.S. administrations from Clinton through Obama that Iran has been trying to get nuclear weapons is actually built on false premises.” EVENT: Gareth Porter: “Manufactured Crisis: The Untold Story of the Iran Nuclear Scare” Monday, May 5 at 7 PM at the DePaul Art Museum, 935 W Fullerton Ave Free and open to the public Books will be available for purchase and signing.
