Protests have erupted throughout Brazil as the country’s top political leaders face a growing corruption scandal. Tens of thousands have called for President Dilma Rousseff to resign. We’ll dig into the unfolding political crisis with Marcelo Jarmendia, the founder and director of Brazil in Chicago. He’s currently in Sao Paolo. 

Mardi Gras Indians, or Black Indians, are African Americans who dress in bright feathered costumes known as “suits.” They’re seen all over New Orleans at festivals, concerts and during Mardi Gras. But their big holiday is what’s known as “Super Sunday.” We’ll get the history behind the celebration from WBEZ’s Yolanda Perdomo. 

On Global Activism, we’ll talk with Toni Anderson of Sacred Keepers Sustainability Lab, an organization dedicated to helping young people learn about the environment. Next month the group will take 12 CPS students on a service project to Kenya.
