By Ashish ValentineWorldview just returned from our seven-city road trip. Today, we bring you coverage from Toronto, where we learned about the children on Canada’s no-fly list. Canadian children, frequently Muslim children, can be falsely flagged as security threats based on their names. Unlike the United States, Canada currently offers no redress process for affected travelers. We discussed the impact on Canadian families and ongoing activism to remove innocent children from the no-fly list with documentary filmmaker Leila Almawy and Aadam Ahmed, who, along with his brothers Yusuf and Issa, has been on the Canadian no-fly list since birth. They are currently working on a documentary on the issue titled “No-Fly List Kids.”
The Worldview bus tour visited communities throughout the Great Lakes region for a week as we celebrate the show’s twenty-fifth year on air. From water insecurity in Flint to indigenous rights in Kalamazoo, we are sharing stories that allow you to experience the world through the communities in your own backyard.
