Sandra Benavente

As Development Associate, Sandra supports the Development department by managing the major donor database, financial analysis, reporting, and prospect research. Before joining Chicago Public Media, Sandra worked in the Community Outreach and Fundraising department at Mundo Verde Public Charter School in Washington D.C. Prior to that, she completed a service year as an AmeriCorps VISTA in the Development department at Higher Achievement, an afterschool academic enrichment program.

Sandra is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Originally from Peru, she grew up in Virginia. Inspired by a 4-month trip around Europe, she decided in early 2018 to expand the confines of her bubble and move to a big city. She loves exploring Chicago one neighborhood at a time, bike-riding, reading, and baking.
