Simon Tran

Producer, Community Engagement and Events
Simon Tran is a producer of Community Engagement and Events at WBEZ, where he produces live podcast tapings, community conversations, newsroom, and arts & culture programming. He works with reporters, producers, arts and cultural organizations, and other (public radio) storytellers at WBEZ and around the country to amplify the stories and people in Chicago communities.

A native of Washington State, Simon previously worked at cultural and art institutions such as Seattle Arts & Lectures, KCTS 9, Seattle Art Museum, and the University of Washington’s Department of Communication’s Civil Rights Pilgrimages. His interdisciplinary background led him to give museum tours, work at a public television station, and travel to Peru and the U.S Deep South to learn about art politics and the Civil Rights movement, respectively.

Simon earned his B.A in Drama Performance and the Comparative History of Ideas, with a Diversity minor at the University of Washington in Seattle. He started his career in Chicago as an intern at WBEZ. He was also a member of the Community Leadership Corps for the Obama Foundation. Outside of work, Simon can be found performing improv, storytelling, and stand-up around the city.
