In 2021, he was a contributing author of the book Clamor Chicago, which won the gold medal for the Victor Villaseñor Best Latino Focused Nonfiction Book–Spanish or Bilingual at the annual International Latino Book Awards. He is a former resident of Bucktown, Pilsen, and Uptown and now resides in Edgewater. Steven received his BA in Journalism from Indiana University.
