Steven Arroyo

Engagement Producer
Steven Arroyo serves on WBEZ’s community engagement team, where he works to amplify voices and broaden access to reliable information in local under-reached communities. Before joining WBEZ in 2022, he served as head of communications for the Illinois public policy nonprofit Latino Policy Forum, as an English Second Language teacher in Chicago and Madrid, as an editor for several trade magazines, and as a bike courier on Chicago’s North Side.

His writing has been published in places including Time magazine, La Raza, and Pitchfork. In 2021, he was a contributing author of the book Clamor Chicago, which won the gold medal for the Victor Villaseñor Best Latino Focused Nonfiction Book–Spanish or Bilingual at the annual International Latino Book Awards. He is a former resident of Bucktown, Pilsen, and Uptown and now resides in Edgewater. Steven received his BA in Journalism from Indiana University.
