2018 World Cup Update: Russia Stuns Soccer World with Victory over Spain

Russia shook the soccer world, last Saturday. The host team advanced to the 2018 World Cup quarterfinals with a stunning win over powerhouse Spain. The Russians forced an overtime shootout by “parking the bus,” a defensive strategy of packing players in front of one’s own goal, rather than trying to score. Croatia, Uruguay and France also advanced. Playing for the quarterfinals today are Brazil, Mexico, Belgium and Japan. Sweden, Switzerland, Colombia and England play on Tuesday. Can Russia ride the elation of the home crowd to a historic victory?
