Mexico has a rich tradition around alcohol and spirits that’s linked to its colonized past. Beer, for example, is so popular because of German merchants. There are other beverages like Pulque, a fermented Agave drink that is native to the country’s indigenous population. Mexico is also a rising country on the fine wine scene, with many sommeliers rising up the ranks in places like Mexico City and Cabo. Wine expert, Emily Wines is one of only 149 people, and one of a few women in the Americas, with the designation of Master Sommelier. She just returned from Mexico, and will share here latest dispatch for our “The Wines Report.” Beyond just taste, she’ll take us on global journeys to learn about wine culture, history, and communities.  Wines is also vice president of Wine & Beverage Experience for the Chicago-area winery, Cooper’s Hawk.
