Preserving biodiversity isn’t just for Brazilians in the rain forest. In order to halt the decline of species in our communities, people’s front yards and landscaping has to change. Just a few native plants can bring your landscape to life. That’s what Doug Tallamy, author of Bringing Nature Home: How Native Plants Sustain Wildlife in Our Gardens believes. This weekend there’s a living landscapes conference at Dominican University. It’s put on by the West Cook chapter of the Wild Ones. They’re a national organization devoted to native plants and living landscapes.
