Illinois state senators are advancing a measure to overhaul the math formula that decides how much state money each school district receives. Governor Bruce Rauner has called it a bailout of Chicago Public Schools on the backs of suburban districts.

But Democrats who support the measure say it sends more money to high poverty school districts all over the state - not just Chicago. And they say those districts should’ve been getting more state money for years. The bill still needs to be approved by the House.
