Solar For Faith Communities: Helping Houses of Worship Go Green

One stereotype about people of faith is that they are skeptical of, or deny, climate change. Faith in Place, a Chicago-based interreligious coalition, is resisting that stereotype. The group was established “to care for the Earth through education, connection, and advocacy.” We’ll talk about how faith-based communities are shoring up energy efficiency in their houses of worship with Dan Huntsha, outreach coordinator for Faith in Place in Chicago’s North and West Suburbs. He has assisted many faith communities with energy efficiency and solar projects. Faith in Place is partnering with the Chicago Area Peace Action Climate group, and Go Green Wilmette, for a public event called, “Solar For Faith Communities”, to inform local religious organizations about the environmental and economic advantages of converting to solar energy.

“Solar For Faith Communities” takes place on Wednesday, January 16th, 10am, at Beth Hillel Bnai Emunah, 3220 Big Tree Lane in Wilmette, Illinois.
