The Chicago Transit Authority said ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft are contributing to a decline in CTA ridership. 

The president of the CTA, Dorval Carter, said he wants the department to do more to highlight the environmental benefits of public transit. 

He said the CTA’s introduction of 425 new buses and 825 new rail cars as well as smartphone apps and public art are steps in the right direction.
