On Monday, former Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi made his first public appearance since being deposed from office some four months ago. This time, it was in a Cairo courtroom. Mr. Morsi, along with 14 other Muslim Brotherhood officials, are being charged with murder and inciting violence, but Mr. Morsi says the trial is bogus. “I am Dr. Mohammed Morsi, the president of the republic. I am here by force and against my will. The coup is a crime and treason,” he told the judge. The trial is on hold until early next year, but still marks a critical new chapter for Egypt in many ways.
